ประวัติโดยย่อ
วัดขอนชะโงก
ตั้งเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2380 ตามความเป็นมาจากผู้ที่อยู่แห่งนี้มาได้เล่าให้ลูกหลานฟังว่า
เมื่อประมาณในปลายรัชการที่ 2 บริเวณที่ตั้งวัดนี้เป็นป่ามีต้นไม้ใหญ่น้อยและเป็นที่อยู่ของสัตว์
มีผู้คนเริ่มเข้ามามอาศัยปลูกบ้านเนื่องจากไม่ไกลจากแหล่งน้ำที่เป็นหนองและมีต้นไม้ประดู่ใหญ่ต้นเอนเป็นแนว

ชาวบ้านชอบขึ้นไปเล่นและไปมองทิวทัศน์ของป่าในหมู่บ้านและหนีสัตว์ป่า
จึงเรียกต้นไม้นี้ว่า “ ขอนชะโงก ” คนบ้านอื่นๆก็เรียกขานหมู่บ้านนี้ตามจุดเด่นของต้นไม้
เมื่อมีคนมาอยู่มากเข้า จึงกันก่อสร้างวัดโดยการนำของ พ่อเฒ่านำ แม่เฒ่าจ้อย
พ่อเฒ่ากันแล้วไปอาราธนาพระสงฆ์จากภาคอีสานและพระสงฆ์จากภาคอีสานมาจำพรรษาที่วัดนี้
จึงได้ตั้งชื่อวัดนี้ตามชื่อหมู่บ้านตั้งแต่นั้นมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
