ประวัติ
วัดแห่งนี้เดิมชื่อวัดเกาะลอยมีสภาพชำรุดทรุดโทรมมาก
ไม่ทราบข้อมูลแน่ชัดว่าใครเป็นผู้สร้าง อยู่ทางฝั่งตะวันตกของคลองระพีพัฒน์
ภายหลังย้ายไปก่อสร้างวัดใหม่ทางฝั่งตะวันออกของคลองระพีพัฒน์ โดยมี
ท่านผู้หญิงละเอียด พิบูลสงคราม ภริยา จอมพลแปลก พิบูลย์สงคราม (จอมพล ป.)
อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรีพร้อมอดีตคณะรัฐมนตรี
คณะผู้ศรัทธาร่วมกันหาทุนทรัพย์ก่อสร้างโบสถ์ วิหาร ศาลาการเปรียญ เสนาสนะต่าง ๆ
และอัญเชิญรูปหล่อพระพุทธชินราชจำลองจากวัดพระศรีรัตนมหาธาตุราชวรมหาวิหาร
(วัดใหญ่) จ.พิษณุโลก มาประดิษฐานเป็นพระประธานในอุโบสถเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2490
และเปลี่ยนชื่อวัดใหม่เป็น
"วัดสันติวิหาร" จากนั้นมา
